Fatah Hamas : une réconciliation saluée par les Européens

(BRUXELLES2) La réconciliation entre les deux frères ennemis palestiniens - le Hamas et le Fatah - a été saluée aujourd'hui par le porte-parole de Catherine Ashton, la Haute représentante de l'UE, lors du briefing de midi. « As outlined in various Council Conclusions (NB:  May 2011 and December 2012), the EU has consistently called for intra-Palestinian reconciliation behind President Abbas, in line with the principles set out in his speech of 4 May 2011, as an important element for the unity of a future Palestinian state and for reaching a two-state solution. (...) The EU welcomes the prospect of genuine democratic elections for the President of the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian Legislative Council and for the Palestinian National Council. (...) While reconciliation is an important step towards a two-state solution, the top priority remains the continuation of talks. »
